Ex Post Facto is an academic journal produced by students of the Department of History at San Francisco State University and by members of the Kappa Phi Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, published once annually, at the end of every spring semester.
Each fall Ex Post Facto accepts submissions of historical essays, book reviews and historiographies from any SF State student, and encourages undergraduate submissions. Every year the Joseph Mullins Prize in History is awarded for both the best undergraduate and graduate student submission.
Undergraduate and graduate student editors can earn 0-3 credits per semester and learn valuable editing skills. The fall semester is primarily reading and reviewing the submissions to make your thoughtful recommendations to the managing editors as to whether or not the submission should be published. The spring semester is comprised of line editing and preparation for taking the journal to press.
Please email EPF@sfsu.edu for submission deadlines, or to indicate your interest in becoming an editor.
